You shoulda warned us it was an hour. ;-)

I made it through the first 20 minutes... good stuff. Bet the last 40 are jam-packed with insight.

Matt Redman's little book had a profound impact on my thinking regarding corporate worship, and one of the themes I extracted from it is the idea that worship that doesn't cost us something isn't worship. He didn't say it in those words, but it's what I gathered from a few of the concepts he presented. I've heard James express a concern that the congregation form a sort of bond with a common set of 'regular' worship songs rather than pitching something new to them each week. It's joked that the songs get old to the worship team members far more quickly than to the congregation, which undoubtedly has some truth to it. But there's something to be said for consistently challenging our people. In fact, I would say that challenge ought to surpass comfort, even if slightly.

Beloved: the hour would still be less time than reading a post at TheIncarnate. ;-)

Thank you for the thoughtful comment.
