Greetings
My name is David Jones, and this is my first post to a blog--ever (gulp). Matthew kindly invited me to join him in this venture, which was just the encouragement I needed to make my first foray into "blogworld."
Perhaps it would be best to tell you a little about myself and the kind of stuff that I will post. For the basic facts, you can read my bio. Let me add that I have been a follower of Jesus Christ for 23 years. On Dec 12, 1982, as a freshman at Michigan Tech University, I placed my life into God's hands. He took my humble offering and put me on a wild path that I could have never anticipated. My life is a testimony of God's faithfulness and provision. Maybe I'll tell one of the stories in a later post.
My interests are fairly broad, so you are liable to see just about anything. Having worked on the English Standard Version of the Bible, I sometimes ruminate about translation issues and the exegesis of biblical texts. I love books and movies, so you might see some reviews from time to time. I regularly answer theological questions that come to our church, so some of those responses might wind up here. And I have been doing a great deal of research on homosexuality and American culture. You'll probably be able to figure out what I have been working on in a given week by reading my posts.
I agree with Matthew that "early evangelicalism was on to something good." I have been growing in my appreciation for the Puritans and their later manifestations, like Spurgeon. Thus, I proudly wear the [retro] evangelical label, and look forward to hearing from you.
David

Welcome Dave... I look forward to hearing your insights on the Word of God and other things you blog about. Glad to see Matt has friends too! :-)
Wow! You are real! I was beginning to think you were just Matt's imaginary friend. Glad to see you will be posting (and it looks like you know how to spell! Just kidding, Matt! :-)) Like Jeremy, I look forward to reading your posts.
