Prayer Request: Feb 06
Please pray for us as we go to Canada next week for ministry. We're doing a pastor's conference, and two radio rallies in Barrie and Hamilton, Ontario. If you are coming to any of these, make sure you say hello to the piano player!

Hi Matt, I saw you today playing the piano and keyboard in Oakville. I didn't want to bother you, but it was great to be there. I didn't like James' caricature of John Piper, not to mention his misunderstanding of calvinism. But the downpour theme was awesome and God ministered to be bigtime. Thanks for coming to Canada!
Frequent readers of the blog will understand my complete agreement with Trish. I agree with James' criticisms, but don't think that they are correctly pointed at Dr. Piper.
And, Trish, if you see me at an event, *please* say hello. We're there to minister and greet people. And few people are cooler than [retro] readers!
I don't know John Piper but I've read pretty much everything he writes. He is not a hyper-calvinist. He is not pro-system, but pro-Christ and pro-sovereign grace. Why should he be criticized for being theologically astute. My heart was pained by Jame's repeated "captain of the ship" comments (I've heard him say the same thing 3 times now). It sounds smug to me.
Dr. Piper is a hyper Calvinist, but not a hyper-calvinist. I'm glad to HEAR he's recovering.
