Churches "Swap" Choirs for Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend

Harvest Bible Chapel announces that the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago choir, The Sons and Daughters of Levi, will sing at their weekend services on January 14-15 at their Rolling Meadows Campus on Saturday at 5:00 P.M. and Sunday at 9:00 and 11:15 A.M. Additionally, the gospel choir from Harvest, Living Word Choir, will sing in the Sunday morning service at Salem Baptist Church in Chicago on January 15 at 10:00 A.M.

The Sons and Daughters of Levi is a 150-voice choral ensemble organized in 1998 as a part of the larger music and arts ministry of the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago where Rev. Senator James T. Meeks serves as Senior Pastor. The ensemble is comprised of volunteer singers, artists, and musicians from this more than 17,000 member church. They have had the distinction of singing with many talented and celebrated Christian artists including Vicki Winans, Larnelle Harris, Billy Davis and Marilyn McCoo, and Wintley Phipps. In recent years the choir has accompanied Rev. Meeks on many evangelistic trips to Bethlehem, South Africa, Russia, Fiji Islands, and in December 2005 to Prague, Czech Republic.

Living Word Choir is a diverse 65-voice gospel choir from Harvest Bible Chapel where radio pastor and author Dr. James MacDonald serves as the Founding and Senior Pastor. The choir, birthed in 2005, is under the direction of Ms. Sheila Fortson, the former director of the Moody Bible Institute Gospel Choir. The volunteer choir sings regularly at Harvest and for special events including Straight Up, Harvest’s annual, international church leadership conference. In their brief history, Living Word Choir has sung with Grammy-nominated artist, Heather Headley, and Nicol Sponberg of Selah.

Harvest Bible Chapel is a church based on the practical exposition of God's Word, contemporary worship, prayer, and boldness in evangelism. Many new Christians attend the church and it has grown to more than 8,000 worshipers since it’s founding in 1988. Also committed to church planting, Harvest now has two additional campuses in Elgin and Niles, IL, as well as daughter churches in Glen Ellyn, Crystal Lake, Lake Zurich, and Rockford, IL, Shelbyville, IN, and Oakville and Barrie, ON, Canada.

The Rolling Meadows Campus of Harvest is located at 800 Rohlwing Road in Rolling Meadows, IL. Salem Baptist Church is located at 752 E. 114th Street in Chicago.
